Project Overview
Protect forest/wetland habitats in the Dry Sand WMA through the acquisition of 40 acres of Potlatch land. Potlatch has been rapidly selling their land holdings in the Cass County area as evident by the sale of a large forest tract just south of the Dry Sand WMA and subsequent conversion to intensive irrigated agricultural use. While this parcel and another two other potential parcels to the north are not directly threatened for ag use, they undoubtedly will be sold by Potlatch in the very near future for recreational use. This parcel adjoins existing WMA land on its west and north sides, and Cass County land on its east and south sides. Approximately 4 acres of this parcel exists under the current Turtle Shell impoundment within this WMA.
