Project Overview
Scattered tree removal followed by brome conversion will significantly enhance the grassland complex on Provenchure WMA. Materials used to perform the removal could include chainsaw, brush hog, excavator and other mechanical means. Brome conversion will occur on Hanson and Tyrone Flats WMAs to help maximize production of pheasant, waterfowl and other wildlife. Brome conversion activities could include any combination of the following activities: prescribed fire, tillage and herbicide applications to prepare the seed bed. After the seed bed is sufficiently prepared, a diverse mix of native prairie grass and forbs will be seeded, and mowing may occur for weed control.
