Project Overview
A series of up to 3 performances by Tonic Sol Fa and 3 performances by Shaun Johnson and the Big Band Experience were held in the ECRL region. These included workshops with the local school choir and band followed by an evening performance for the public. One Tonic Sol Fa choral performance was scheduled at Princeton in April 2014, but was cancelled due to a snowstorm. It was rescheduled and held on Sept. 2, 2014. Due to the difficulty in getting other school choirs or bands to partner with us for the remaining two scheduled programs, it was decided to discontinue the program and to no longer pursue other venues.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Attendees will be exposed to a variety of entertainment choices and styles and have their lives enhanced by the cultural experience. Students will learn about the music business from music professionals and get the opportunity to work with them as they perform together at the workshops.

Measurable Outcome(s)

When asked to List ONE new thing you LEARNED, SKILL you acquired, KNOWLEDGE you gained or ATTITUDE that was changed from attending this program, attendees listed the following:

1) vocal warm ups, how to breathe properly
2) I learned to beat box
3) Great music; Learned about arts funding
4) How intricate and amazing a cappella can be. Very diverse musically, the mix of tones, notes, melodies - all with the voice.
5) My children would not have been able to attend without this opportunity provided to the community. Thank you!
