Larry Yazzie and the Native Pride Dancers
Attendees will learn about Native American cultural traditions through music, dance and storytelling thus nurturing communication among all people. The program will enhance their access to diverse and multicultural artists.
96% of the kids who attended the workshops loved it. When asked to name one thing they learned about indigenous traditions they made the following comments: They are very creative and have cool dances; There are 565 federally recognized tribes; They believe the drumbeat resembles their heartbeat. Only 42% of those attending the evening performance were aware of Minnesota's Art and Cultural Heritage Fund. Comments from the audience included: Great dances would have liked to see the rain dance and the woman Gancy dance; Loved to see the younger generation getting into our heritage; very informative and interactive; This was the first time I watched Native American dance.
