“The Spirit Sings” is a program of African American music as it transformed from slave songs to jazz featuring the music of OboeBass! The duo of Rolf Erdahl, double bass and Carrie Vecchione, oboe.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

The intended outcome of the arts program is to allow patrons the opportunity to experience a variety of different music genres. A survey was distributed to receive feedback from those attending the programs.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Surveys were distributed to participants at all programs. 84% strongly agreed that this was an enjoyable experience and 80% strongly agreed that they would attend a similar event.

Source of Additional Funds

10 libraries provided space (1 partnered for a program to be held at a school), staff, and additional promotion for the programs and approximately 8 regional newspapers provided marketing through press releases, photos and interviews with artists and performers.
