An instructor from the Minnesota Center for Book Arts will present a series of three workshops at the North Branch Area Library for the summer of 2016 and fall of 2016. These will include one for children (Frog Pop Out Book) one for teens (Japanese Paper Folding) and one for adults (Hardcover Sketch Journal)..

Students will learn the art of bookmaking and the many different forms it encompasses. They will have the opportunity to create a vibrant visual and literary form of expression in their specific book art form. Other outcomes may include:
1) hands-on-learning through the artistic process
2) creative and personal expression
3) discovery of a new art form
4) using critical and visual thinking skills
Teens are very hard audience to reach, although the class was small, they all loved it. Comments included: I love making my book!; I thought it was a cool idea; Comments on the hardcover sketch book included: Would be nice to have handout with for example the names used (folio, signature, etc.) Also instructional handout. Excellent class/teacher.; Loved it! Do more workshops about bookmaking, etc.
