Project Overview

Put on your zoot suit and follow in the footsteps of America’s most infamous gangsters as they turned Minnesota into their personal crime vacation land. Filled with deadly bank robberies, explosive shootouts, brutal murders, and daring kidnappings, this presentation lets the audience discover the grisly locations where the gangster history will never die. Chad has been featured on Discovery Channel’s A Haunting, William Shatner’s Weird or What, ABC’s Scariest Places on Earth, Monsters and Mysteries, and Beyond Belief, along with a frequent contributor on Ripley’s Believe It or Not radio. With a Master’s Degree in psychology, Chad has authored over 20 books on the supernatural, and extensively lectures on his fascinating findings. The more bizarre the legend, the more likely it is that you will find Chad there.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

The intended outcome is to inspire attendees to read, learn about Minnesota's past, and or /explore literature with a Minnesota author. A survey was distributed to receive feedback from those attending the programs.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Surveys were distributed to participants at all programs. 90% strongly agreed that this was an enjoyable experience and 85% strongly agreed that they would attend a similar event. Comments: I liked his professionalism-smooth, fast-paced, with humor, well informed. Good topic presented in an entertaining manner. If history classes could be presented in a similar fashion, college history would be the most popular department on campus! Loved learning about Minnesota history. Now I would like to visit St. Paul, MN. Thank you for making programs like this available-keep them coming!

Source of Additional Funds

17 libraries provided space, staff, and additional promotion for the programs and approximately 12 regional newspapers provided marketing through press releases, photos and interviews with artists and performers.
