The Region's Storytellers
The Region's Storytellers is a community workshop where we will bring in a popular Minnesota storyteller (like Kevin Kling) to host a storytelling workshop with community members. This workshop will engage participants in how to tell and share their unique stories. The workshop will culminate in the host selecting a few "winning" stories which will be featured in a storytelling even in the next fiscal year. As part of our committment to education, we will also have an educator workshop, providing an opportunity for teachers to learn how to weave storytelling education into the classroom. We will also create a book club, partnering with local libraries, to encourage community to meet, engage, and share their love of the written word.
WDSE WRPT FY 22/23 Legacy Grant
$4,326,200 the first year and $4,326,200 the second year are to the Minnesota Public Television Association for production and acquisition grants according to Minnesota Statutes,?section 129D.18.
Community members will be given the opportunity to hone their storytelling skills by working with a celebrated Minnesotan storyteller?a unique educational opportunity reaching about 15 community members. With the educator workshop, we will engage 15 educators as we begin our peer-to-peer learning network. The skills learned by these educators should reach up to 500 students. The book club will engage community members to become more active participants and come together to share a common love of reading.
