(b) Statewide Historic and Cultural Grants. (i) $2,250,000 in 2010 and $4,500,000 in 2011 are appropriated for history programs and projects operated or conducted by or through local, county, regional or other historical or cultural organizations; or for activities to preserve significant historic and cultural resources. A detailed Historic Structures Report was prepared that will guide future restoration of the Reads Landing School, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The building houses the Wabasha County Historical Society Museum. Three consultants with historic heritage, design and architectural expertise were hired to work with the WCHS Board to analyze the condition of the building and propose solutions for both building rehabilitation and programming.. The final report contains multiple recommendations for functional use of space, site planning and accessibility.
