Microfilm Acquisition and Storage
Statewide Historic and Cultural Grants. $5,250,000 the first year and $5,250,000 the second year are for history programs and projects operated or conducted by or through local, county, regional, or other historical or cultural organizations; or for activities to preserve significant historic and cultural resources.
The targets of this project were to provide better quality microfilm resources for our research room at the museum and to provide appropriate storage with increased public accessibility for our patrons.
We were able to achieve the first target by replacing the worn microfilm with the new film that was purchased. We achieved our second target when we purchased the microfilm cabinet and were able to house and arrange all of our microfilm resources together in an orderly fashion. Both staff and patrons have expressed favorable comments on the improved quality of the film, particularly when producing photocopies and, with the new cabinet system, patrons require less assistance in finding the films they want to use. We believe these results were achieved because the need was accurately identified and the solutions were appropriate.
