Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra
Live broadcasts of the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra.
$4,895,000 the first year and $4,025,000 the second year are to the Minnesota Public Television Association for production and acquisition grants according to Minnesota Statutes, section 129D.18. Of this amount, $950,000 the first year is for a grant to Twin Cities Public Television to produce Minnesota Journeys: Capturing, Sharing, and Understanding Our Immigration History.
The Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra performances will connect our viewers to the classical artistry of the professional musicians of the DSSO, and bring live classical music to underserved, remote and rural communities. The top 5 performances of the DSSO is in response to the community's desire to experience the beauty of our classical musicians, in spite of them having to shut down all their spring performances in Spring 2020, one of which we were originally going to broadcast live, due to COVID-19 outbreak. The DSSO was one of the only professional orchestras performing in fall/winter 2020/2021, so our broadcast was one of the few new Holiday performances of the December 2020 season.
