Wearable Charms, Pocket Amulets & Small Sculptures with Sara Hanson
Students carve original designs into cuttlefish bone to create negative space. That space is filled with lead-free pewter to create small wearable charms, pocket amulets or sculptures.

We distributed evaluation forms after each program. We hoped patrons would have a new understanding and/or appreciation for jewelry and/or sculpture-making, and learn something new about both. We also hoped that patrons would leave with a stronger association of the library as a place to experience arts and cultural programming.
100% of respondents said they agree or strongly agree that this program brought their community a new cultural or artistic experience. 100% agreed or strongly agreed they learned something new about the arts, history or culture. 100% said that after this program, they are likely or very likely to think of the library as a place to experience arts or cultural programming. Public comments included, "I loved the opportunity to learn how and about making this type of art- it was perfect," and, "I had no idea jewelry was made this way. Very fun program," and, "new and fun- can be as creative as possible."
