Buster the Reading Clown
Buster the Reading Clown read the books “Cat Tale” by Michael Hall; “What Do You Do with a Tail Like This?” by Steve Jenkins;” A Dog is a Dog” by Stephen Shaskan; and “Minerva Louise: The Mixed-Up Hen” by Janet Morgan Stoeke. He also read two poems "My Mother Doesn't Want a Dog" by Judith Viorst and "Calling All Readers" by Laura Purdie Salas. The children learned about animals (specifically how their body parts-eyes, nose, mouth, tails--are adapted to meet their needs) through picture books, poetry, magic tricks, and clown antics.
Children will learn about things under the earth through puppetry and stories. Buster encourages a love of reading and exploration, promoting literacy through the art of clowning.
The small, but appreciative crowd experienced great picture books and the joy of reading through Buster's puppets.
Radio helped promote through bi-monthly library radio program; Press Tribune printed press release; Library Friends promoted through support of summer reading program in bulletin.
