Arna Rennan: Treasures Left Behind
Together with the highly regarded Hardanger Fiddle Player, Loretta Kelly, Arna and Loretta perform slaatter og stev fiddle tunes and the songs that go with them. The repertoire is predominantly springar and gangar from the region of Telemark. It is an older, regional tradition that fell by the wayside as the immigrants sought common ground with other Europeans immigrants with the more modern polka, waltzes and schottisches. Arna has translated some of the tunes and together with their storytelling, the music becomes accessible to all. This program took place at 8 locations in the LARL Region from September 12 to September 14, 2017. This program was partially funded by FY2016 ($1,323.08) Legacy funds and FY2017 ($7,371.80) Legacy funds.
