Project Overview
Author Scott Thoma wrote the book “Out of the Blue" about a local natural disaster, the first-recorded F5 tornado in Minnesota history. The book focuses on two sisters who were blown out of their home by the 300-plus miles per hour wind and survived and how the loss of that day changed their lives forever. Scott will share with the audience the research process he endured while writing this non-fiction book. He will also take the audience back to 1968 and the horrific yet significant details of that day.

Increased knowledge of what happended in Tracy. Increased interest in how certain events change a community, such as the Tracy F5 tornado.
Measurable Outcome(s)
Participants were involved in conversation with the author about the tornado and its aftermath. Lamberton residents could see the tornado that day -- many from their homes. Many had family and friends who experienced it firsthand. A couple even helped with the cleanup efforts. We talked about how the event changed Tracy history and will always be a part of the heritage of the community
