Siama: 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Celebration
Siama will perform an interactive music and storytelling program for young children and their families featuring his trademark feel-good guitar music in the Congolese soukous (dance music) style. This program is also to honor the achievements of those who have completed their 1,000 Books goal and encourage others to sign up and keep reading together. This program took place at 13 locations in the LARL Region from April 24 to May 1, 2018.

Children and their families will learn about Congolese soukous music.
They will see how two Minnesota musicians of different cultural backgrounds, one born here and one an immigrant, collaborate to create joyful music together.
Attendees will have the opportunity to sing, dance, and play along.
Surveys were collected from attendees. The program was rated very highly. Attendees enjoyed the interaction with children, the music, singing and dancing. Attendees also liked learning about Africa.
