Kao Kalia Yang Author Visit
Kao Kalia Yang is a teacher, public speaker, and writer. Yang is the author of the award-winning book, The Latehomecomer: A Hmong Family Memoir and her newest book, The Song Poet, a powerful memoir of her father, a Hmong song poet who sacrificed his gift for his children's future in America. Kao Kalia Yang is a member of the Hmong ethnic minority. Born in Thailand's Ban Vinai Refugee Camp, Yang is now an American citizen living in Minnesota which according to the 2010 Census is now home to the largest urban Hmong population in the world. Kao Kalia Yang will speak about her family's history, resettlement in the US, and her books. This program took place in 2 location in the LARL region on October 15, 2016.
