Statewide Activities/Partnerships
Arrowhead Library System participated in statewide activities with other regional public libraries across the state. This partnership included a relationship with the Minnesota Historical Society and supporting History Day in Minnesota. Arrowhead Library System offered two Minnesota Historical Society History Players to locations. History Player Toni Stone, the first woman to play baseball in the Negro leagues, visited eleven locations. History Player Harriet Bishop, first public school teacher in St. Paul, visited four locations. The Minnesota Historical Society MN Comic Workshop with Todd Balthazor was presented at two public libraries.
384 adults and youth attended MHS partnership programming.
The intended outcome of this program is to familiarize students with historical people, events, and the culture of Minnesota and beyond.
Surveys were distributed to the groups of attendees for all MHS partnership programming. Comments from these programs include: "I learned something new about history that I didn't know," "I learned how to make comics!" and "I learned about a new person I didn't know!"
