Project Overview

Three day music festival held in September, featuring local and regional musicians in a family friendly setting. A celebration of local and regional music, the festival has been held at the Grand Marais Recreation Park, just a short walk from Lake Superior. Musical acts represent a number of genres, from polka and Americana to Alternative rock and Classic Country. Due to restrictions and concerns about social distancing and large, public gatherings, the 2020 and 2021 Radio Waves music festivals pivoted to being broadcast live on WTIP, alternating between live acts and virtual acts via Cleanfeed. The festival returned as an in-person event in 2022. Our community of music fans and WTIP listeners have come to rely on this annual event as a great, local gathering, that brings live music to a family-friendly, outdoor setting on the beautiful North Shore.
