Project Overview
The 2014 Community Read in Alexandria/Douglas County was "The Latehomecomer" by Kao Kalia Yang. To complement the book, a cooking demonstration was held in Alexandria. The chef at the Broadway Bistro spoke about Hmong cooking and cuisine. He then brought the participants into the kitchen to demonstrate the art of preparing a Hmong dish. Participants were encouraged to sample the Hmong cuisine. The Bistro provided the space, staff and equipment. The Community Read organization provided planning and paid for advertising.
