Small Venue Music & Arts Performances
Promotional and financial support for artists and sound technicians performing at small venues in Southern Minnesota. By their very nature, these events are small, intimate performances, typically by independent artists or artists who are just starting their careers. Most events are music performances, but some could include spoken word performances. Planned events include:
Mankato Makerspace (2 performances each year)
Free Form Freakout (4 performances each year)
KMSU Presents (4 to 6 performances each year)
KMSU will create awareness of these events by broadcasting preview interviews and various promotional awareness messages in the week leading up to each event. In some cases, music by the performing artists will be broadcast to increase event awareness. Select performances will be recorded and broadcast as a highlight show on KMSU. Longer form recordings of select events will be broadcast on The Minnesota Music Channel (KMSU-HD2)..
These events will result in increased exposure to professional performing arts, and the work of professional artists
More Minnesotans of all ages, ethnicities, and incomes will have access to Minnesota art and music
