With the Legacy Project, we intend to purchase two wireless microphones to help promote the arts on our stage for the performers. We are also hiring RJ Kerns, to promote photography and explain the history behind the art of taking photos. With the number of exhibitors showing photography, we would like to educate the public on the history of photography and why it is so important and how to improve their skills in exhibiting photos.
Church of Cash, an Elvis Impersonator, a blacksmith, and Smokin' Joe and the Tailpipes are all lined up to be on the Lumber Depot Free Stage at the East Otter Tail County Fair. The Minnesota performers will perform a tribute to Johnny Cash and Elvis. A blacksmith will be set up on the side of the park shelter, continually doing demonstrations so that fairgoers can interact with him. Smokin' Joe and the Tailpipes are a local Dent, MN group that will perform a variety of songs.
Homeward Bound Theatre, a Minnesota-based company, will bring THE OZ BROTHERS to perform at the Fair on July 25 and 26, with 2 stage shows each day plus they will also be strolling around the fairgrounds to entertain fairgoers. The Big Top Tent Rental from Luverne, MN will provide a 40 x 40 tent for the performers and for fairgoers.
The fair is in process of updating our "park" area of the grounds. This is where performers are on stage. In 2024 we would like to add a cover, and more electric and lighting.
The Children's Museum of Rochester, Inc. will be implementing a program called Passport To Play aiming to increase the number of children and families of all ages, ethnicities, abilities and incomes to participate in hands-on arts and cultural programming and educational exhibits at the museum. Passport To Play would reach over 1,500 children and families a year from underserved communities in Southeastern Minnesota. The Children's Museum of Rochester, Inc.

The premise for securing entertainment at the Hanson Memorial Free Stage is that it has to have ethnic significance and it should provide an elementary level of agriculture that kids can understand and adults can appreciate. This year the fair is showcasing one the premier children's acts the state has to offer. Tricia and the Toonies provide three shows, each different and each relevant. One show focuses on the basics of agriculture, another show focuses on the environment and the third show shows the differences of ethnic heritage.
We will have ethnic food demonstrations in our new Carri Thompson Education Center, which includes: lefse, rommegrot (Norwegian rich pudding), tamales, krumkake and yeast breads. We will also have a balloon artist who also demonstrates how to create life-like animals and people. We will also have music for ALL generations. Tripwire is a group who includes Music for ALL generations and genres: Americana, country, old-time.
Hennepin County Fair would like to use their Legacy grant money for the following items: Wood turner demonstration, pottery demonstration, Chuck Perry - musician/magician, and stage rental for musicians.
CMSM will build upon the work that began with its 2015-16 appropriation by (1) Remediation and further development of exhibit areas that promote Arts & Cultural Heritage (ACH) learning (2) Expanding ACH learning opportunities for new audiences at off-site locations; (3) Engaging an outside Evaluation Consultant to help plan/implement strategies that meaningfully assess ACH learning outcomes and impacts; (4) Boosting the Museum’s capacity to serve more school/early learning groups.
