Funds will assist Northern Light Opera Company to provide arts activities including a large scale summer musical, NLOKids Theater Camp, the Workbench New Play Workshop and the Workbench Filmmakers Intensive to communities surrounding Park Rapids, MN.

As a result of this season/series of activities, youth will learn new theater skills, gain confidence in working in an intercultural environment through theater games, writing scripts, creating songs, and performing the creation for family and friends. As a result of this season/series of activities, actors/singers/musicians will be given an opportunity be on stage or in the orchestra, honing their skills as part of a music theater production. Volunteers will be given an opportunity to create sets, props and costumes to be used in a music theater production. Area audiences will have access to the arts by attending the annual summer musical, NLOKids show, the playwriters' showcase, and the filmmakers' showcase. Novice playwrights will be challenged to write a ten-page script using workshop prompts and techniques and view their work read by NLOC actors at a public reading. Area filmmakers will hone their filmaking skills led by LA Filmmaker Audience surveys will be collected at the end of performances and playwriters' showcase that will measure audience satisfaction. Audience comments will be collected. Evaluation of NLOKids Theater Camp will be done by workshop leaders, evaluating the progress made by individuals and the group.
