Minnesota’s twelve regional library systems, which encompass more than 350 public libraries in all areas of the state, can benefit from a portion of the Legacy Amendment’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. Through State Library Services, a division of the Minnesota Department of Education, each regional library system is eligible to receive a formula-driven allocation from the annual $2.2 million Minnesota Regional Library System Legacy Grant. East Central Regional Library (ECRL) is a consolidated regional public library system in east central Minnesota.
The Arts and Access Programs include three major initiatives: 1. Arts and access programming at Minnesota Children’s Museum-Rochester 2. Creativity Jam Exhibit; and 3. Storyland Tour of Greater Minnesota.
Arts and Cultural Heritage funding will allow us to pursue three major initiatives between July 1, 2016 and June 30, 2017: (1) Offer special exhibits and programs promoting creative & critical thinking in our main museum in St. Paul. (2) A Pop-up satellite Museum at the Mall of America featuring four changing exhibits to attract thousands of new visitors. (3) Changing exhibits and access at Minnesota Children’s Museum-Rochester to ensure inclusive family experiences for the Rochester community.

Northwest Regional Library System (NRL) is a consolidated regional public library system in upper northwest Minnesota.
To develop and expand K-12 Immersion site curriculum by hiring a culture-based education alignment specialist to work with the Niigaane curriculum development teams. These teams will work on relevant content based instruction for students in grades K-6, as the school does not serve grades 7-12. The project will also provide fluent speakers in the classroom.
To update and enhance cultural heritage exhibits at the Cass County Fair. Projects will include brightening display areas, installing speakers, and removing outdated displays to replace with new exhibits of art and cultural artifacts from the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwa and other pieces relating to regional heritage.
To finish a 30-minute film based on research completed over the course of seven years and to make her more competitive in applying for feature film funding.
To better highlight local talent by making the exhibits of the creative activities more visible and engaging to fair visitors. Funds will be used to improve lighting by upgrading wiring and fixtures, adding electrical hookups to allow spotlights on specific displays, and installing a glass board.
The Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County used the funds to purchase 1223 linear feet of V-GRIP™ baked enamel on steel shelving to store their growing collection of archival materials. This project will have lasting implications for the professional care of the historical record of Clay County for many years to come.
