Music Education for Minnesota Students
Class Notes Artists is a mix of traditional Classical and musicians from different disciplines providing free in-school concerts across the state, with local teachers supported by MPR-created curricula. The program is available at no charge to participants and the curricula is posted for use, free of charge, by anyone. Class Notes Artists is the flagship music education program produced by MPR and reaches more than 20,000 students annually as well as employing Minnesota musicians to deliver the program.
$1,700,000 the first year and $1,775,000 the second year are for Minnesota Public Radio to create programming and expand news service on Minnesota's cultural heritage and history.
Minnesota students will gain the experience of live performance and a greater understanding of, and enthusiasm for, Classical and other types of music. Minnesota students impacted by the novel coronavirus pandemic will be offered at-home learning opportunities not always otherwise available to them. Various concepts will be demonstrated through in-person performances and reinforced through online curricula, lesson plans, and activities.
