Classical MPR
Regional recordings: Classical Minnesota Public Radio will promote, record, and distribute to Minnesota audiences the wealth of Classical music made in our state. Though previous Legacy awards have funded this work, we will innovate in FY20-21 with new on-air & digital features highlighting MN artists, with an emphasis on high-school and college-age youth. Digital: Resource for blogger(s) to cover Classical music in its diversity and vitality around the state of Minnesota; and production of a series of videos spotlighting MN Classical artists in performance. Choral Works Initiative: A two-part annual project: 1.) Large-scale community singing events called Bring the Sing. 2.) Fully half of the programming of Classical MPR's Choral Stream features Minnesota choirs. In FY21, CMPR will partner with the University of Minnesota on a project to record Minnesota musicians singing American classical hymns.
$1,700,000 the first year and $1,775,000 the second year are for Minnesota Public Radio to create programming and expand news service on Minnesota's cultural heritage and history.
Raise awareness of and participation in Classical music which will be measured through the surveys as described and in partnership with MPR's audience insights team.
