Genealogy Laptop Lab 2011
Using GRRL’s Laptop Lab, each branch will have up to one training session on searching for family history information. Sessions were presented by trained genealogists.
Measurable Outcomes may be collected by survey, anecdotal responses, pre-test/post-test, observations; Describe proposed end user change in Behavior, Attitude, Skills, Knowledge, Condition and/or Status.Attendees will be able to identify one new skill or resource learned [knowledge].
Feedback indicated that attendees learned about specific family history websites. One wrote that they found out the St. Michael Historical Society is a good place to get genealogy information via the class. One wrote, "I can't wait to go home and use [what I learned]." Attendees also learned techniques for distinguishing good information from bad, and for formulating a meaningful search for genealogical information. Attendees frequently commented on how knowledgeable the presenters were (Stephen Barthel and Tom Rice). One comment was "Best presentation I've been to as far as getting information into time given-presenter didn't get off subject." Another wrote, "Grateful for presentation here locally."
