Low Power FM Training and Outreach Initiative
MPR's Director of Impact and Community Engagement will produce a one-day training each year for the 18 LPFM/Community radio stations across the state. Past experience has demonstrated that MPR has the name recognition to inspire attendance and the resources to produce this training. In addition, MPR will pilot a week-long summer media camp for high students working with LPFM stations' websites. These two education events build on outreach and relationships created in with MPR LPFM training in 2017.
$1,700,000 the first year and $1,775,000 the second year are for Minnesota Public Radio to create programming and expand news service on Minnesota's cultural heritage and history.
Evaluate demand for trainings by tracking the number of LPFM stations that participants and the number of students who participant in the Radio summer institute. Establish a baseline to understand a realistic number of the content pieces to be created from the Radio summer institute. Determine the external impact by reviewing digital metrics in social media, mpr.org and LPFM station websites. Understand the impact on the current cohort to inform future trainings. Understand the potential impact year over year by comparing results to the 2017 findings to see if there are trends.
