To broaden public access to primary historical records by replacing microfilm copies of newspapers lost during the July 8, 2011 arson fire that destroyed the Isanti County History Museum.
This project will reduce sediment and nutrient loading by 141 tons of sediment and 120 pounds of phosphorus annually while improving in-stream and riparian habitat by restoring a 2/3-mile corridor of Middle Sand Creek. This project expands upon the Lower Sand Creek Corridor Restoration project funded in part by a FY18 CWF grant and results in the restoration of over a mile of contiguous stream corridor.
The project will utilize GIS to analyze the Middle Minnesota River Watershed in Renville County to inventory conservation project potential in this watershed, then target priority projects for future funding. This project will create the opportunity to evaluate the watershed using the most advance scientific data available. Conservation practices that will be evaluated are wetland restorations, buffers and filter strips, sediment basins, grass waterways, and grade stabilization structures using LiDAR layers.
The goals of this grant include the continued recording and the professional transference of existing elder stories. The purchase of a professional dictation kit will ensure that the continued recordings are of highest quality. Four certificate-eligible interns will who can transition into language instructor position at Nay AH Shing Tribal School and Mille Lacs Early Education will continue their education of the Ojibwe language. These interns will also be developing teaching materials that can be used in the future.
To contract with qualified professionals to prepare construction documents for the reconstruction of missing historic features on the Milwaukee Elevator, listed in the National Register of Historic Places, and used as a trailhead facility.
The Minimal Impact Design Standards (MIDS) project represents the next generation of stormwater management in Minnesota. MIDS offers guidelines, recommendations and tools that help low impact development practices be implemented more uniformly across Minnesota's landscape and provides guidance to effectively implement the concepts and practices of low impact development. Products include performance goals for new development, redevelopment and linear projects, a graphic user interface calculator and flexible treatment options for sites design.

Minnesota Trout Unlimited and its partners, chapters, and volunteers enhanced habitat for trout, as well as other fish, game and wildlife, in or along more than 9 miles of coldwater streams around the state. We adapting to challenging conditions caused by the pandemic by shifting budget from small projects using hand labor (which was largely unavailable for the past 3 years) to very large scale projects utilizing heavy machinery and extensive habitat materials.
