This non-competitive CWF grant program invests in building the capacity of Nonpoint Engineering Assistance (Technical Service Area) Joint Powers Boards to increase the capacity of soil and water conservation districts to provide technical and engineering assistance to landowners.
To provide local music artists an opportunity to perform folk, Country, and Rock music at the county fair. Funds will be used to pay for sound, lights, stage equipment, and the artists a modest fee to defray expenses and perform.
Stearns County continues to grow in diversity especially with our Hispanic community. We have had numerous requests to include a Hispanic band as part of our free stage entertainment. We would like to hire them for our Friday evening.
The goal of this project is to design and implement a spatial framework for agricultural nutrient budget assessment and tracking in the state of Minnesota. This analysis can be repeated on a defined frequency to assess progress toward narrowing the difference between applied nutrients and crop nutrient needs across the State. The work conducted will provide an improved nutrient budget assessment, maps to use when looking at nutrient balance results in watersheds around the state, and a framework from which future nutrient budget assessments can become more accurate.
Minnesota's twelve regional library systems, which encompass more than 350 public libraries in all areas of the state, can benefit from a portion of the Legacy Amendment's Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. Through State Library Services, a division of the Minnesota Department of Education, each regional library system is eligible to receive a formula-driven allocation from the annual $2.5 million Minnesota Regional Library System Legacy Grant.
We plan to add an automatic retractable awning system for the heritage square stage for the comfort of the spectators and performers during afternoon sun. We will have a historical storyteller schooled in cultural and legends of northern Minnesota. The Headwaters Science center will provide hands-on children's activities focused on historical significance of today's modern technology. We will also invite several local crafters to demonstrate their skills and explain the historical significance of their craft.
The Legacy Project at the East Otter Tail County Fair will provide access to a glass blowing demonstration thru the House of Mulciber and a singer/artist group called the Church of Cash. The glass blowing demonstrations will be held on Friday and Saturday of the fair with 5-8 demonstrations a day. The Church of Cash will be performing on the Lumber Depot Free Stage in the Park. ,
Legacy funds will be used for stage rental, demonstrations and a pan drummer entertainer. The demonstrations will include wood turning, done by a foot controlled turner, done in a historical setting complete with costuming. Also included in the demonstration area will be a potter (from the region) who throws clay.
2 shows by Madana's ABC (Agriculture, Balloons, & Comedy); 2 shows featuring Jacques LA Christian sharing the Legends of the Wilderness (the story of a French Voyager); Square Dance Demonstration, Lessons, and Audience Participation by the Cambridge Corners including a Caller provided by Cambridge Corners. The Singn-N-Swingin Polka/Old time music band will perform a variety of music suitable for dancing and sharing stories.
We will be using the money to hire Minnesota-based entertainment for our free stage. We will be bringing in a Rockabilly entertainer, which is rock n' roll music with roots in music of the American South during the 1950's. This band is from Rochester, MN. We also have two other bands that play old time music and country music. Both are local artists from our hometown of Austin, MN. Another local band will be doing country music. Our final artist is an Elvis Impersonator. He is from Harmony, MN.
The Educational Heritage Magic Show by Magician Tom Anderson - With period costumes from the 1800's, he will be using magic that would have taken place in the 1800's. Tom is also a balloon artist and will be offering a balloon twisting class. ?Musical performers will also perform at the fair.
Having a chainsaw artist do demonstrations on grounds each day; Building an open sided shelter to protect fairgoers and local performers from the elements as they watch and learn about local cultural heritage such as polka bands, local Native American dances, German bands, Century Farm and senior programs.
For our Magic Village- Kelvin does an agriculture-related magic show that is fun for all ages. Also Todd-N-Tina will come. They are educators in the art of dance/movement and getting energized by involving youth and adults to get off their seats and on their feet. They promote fun in music, song and dance.
We want to invite back to our fair:
- Doug Ohman who is a History Teller, he brings different content for the different sessions he does at the fair.
- Kevin Lindh is a balloon twisting artist. In the past he's had a continuous line of children to get their unique balloon figures. He does animals, characters, shapes, etc.
- Jeremy DeWall (and band) is a local Minnesota singer. He will bring his hometown music to our stage during the fair.
For children we plan on having Alfy's World of Robotic Puppets; Wonderful World of Woody; and interactive show
Silly Ms Tilly, a balloon artist.
We will also have Honky Tonk Troubadours - music through the decades.
