ACHF Arts Access
Benefits include increased self-confidence, improved communications skills, and stronger self-expression for the children who participate. The experience provides an opportunity for children to work through challenges as a team. Performers will gain valuable experience in following a timeline and receiving direction, feedback, and critique. Students will increase knowledge of stage terminology, and they will be involved in creating the choreography, set design and costumes for the show. The use of college-aged student directors and coordinators offers an additional opportunity for development of leadership. We will use a button/sticker method of evaluating pre and post workshop outcomes with the younger students. In this way we can gain knowledge of the outcomes without a formal pre/post test that may take some of the fun out of the experience for the children.
