To contract two entertainers for the free stage at the 2023 Big Stone County Fair. Both entertainers are from Minnesota. The first group will be a musical/comedy duo who will play mostly original musical material with comedy and funny stories mixed in with the songs and between songs. The second entertainer is a Native American stand-up comedian who will tell jokes and stories about his life and comment on current events.

The Polk County Fair is proposing to use the Legacy funding to provide the Free Stage audience with a unique musical experience. The first act is entitled the "The Woodpicks." They are a classic blue grass band using instruments familiar with blue grass, fiddle, stand-up bass, and banjo. The second act is called "the Radio Stars." It is a classic country western group that plays old time classics.

Our legacy project involves two parts. First portion would go to the purchase of four iPads for our Fine Arts/Photography and Agriculture/Horticulture Departments. They would be used for our open class departments for registration, judging, and placements. The second portion would go towards the sound proofing of our Township Square Stage. This is an outdoor performance stage that is used by many varieties of performers: bands, magicians, jugglers, balloon artists, competitions, etc.

They have the reputation for bringing top-notch musical entertainment to the stage. The fair is also hoping to bring Skipping Stones to the fair. They are also Minnesota based and play guitar and sing over 1000 cover tunes and classicals, plus original compositions.

We will utilize our Activity Area and Cottonwood Stage to introduce some art forms to the visitors of our Benton County Fair programming. Our fair has a high attendance and it provides the perfect opportunity to enhance an introduction to arts through our programming and events.

Our Legacy project will consist of a variety of items: we hold a craft day for kids where they can come to the fair and make various craft projects throughout the day. Kids usually go home with 2-3 projects each. We will also host a non-denominational church service; Legacy funds will go towards the musical group and their sound man that provides the music for the service. We are also looking to upgrade our sound system by our stage area, as well as renting a portable stage. We will also be purchasing portable pop canopies/tenets to provide shelter for outside craft vendors.
