Objective 1: By 6/30/2025, increase Full Time Teachers with at least intermediate- mid fluency from 2 to 3 at Lower Sioux Cansayapi. Objective 2: By 6/30/2025, increase Dakota fluency of (2) Early Childhood Language Nest Teachers Dakota Language to at least Intermediate Low. Objective 3: By 6/30/2025, increase language speaking at home from weekly to daily among 50 families and fluency of 20 families .5-1 level on the ACTFL fluency scale.
To add 125 rolls of microfilmed newspapers and other local history documents to the museum's holdings, making primary records more accessible to the public.
To hire qualified professionals to complete roof rehabilitation and exterior work on the former J.C. Schobes Bakery and Confectionery, listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
To hire a qualified consultant to research the history of and write an exhibit script about McLeod County during World War I, in preparation for a future exhibit.
This year's grant dollars will be used for 3 different events at our county fair:
1) Woodsman Axe - Attendees will see how to throw the Axe plus be able to try it themselves! Along with that they will learn the history of Axe throwing.
2) Singing Pines of Cambridge - music of the 50's, 60's, 70's, and 80's.
Provide a fun, supportive and engaging opportunity for Dakota youth to learn the Dakota language and culture through weekly activity nights, which includes assisting with the planning and production of a monthly fun cultural lesson video for distribution on YouTube and social media.
To digitize a collection of archival materials from the 1925 Norse-American Centennial, allowing for greater public access to these historic resources.
