Project Overview

Objective 1: By 6/30/2025, increase Full Time Teachers with at least intermediate- mid fluency from 2 to 3 at Lower Sioux Cansayapi. Objective 2: By 6/30/2025, increase Dakota fluency of (2) Early Childhood Language Nest Teachers Dakota Language to at least Intermediate Low. Objective 3: By 6/30/2025, increase language speaking at home from weekly to daily among 50 families and fluency of 20 families .5-1 level on the ACTFL fluency scale.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

1. Hire a third full time Dakota Language instructor to increase their language learning, go into classroom to increase language in classroom lessons, and create language learning materials for families and Community based on teacher's lesson plans. 2. Work with Master-Speaker Apprentice Model with Harold Blacksmith to increase language learning for 260 hours year 1 and 520 hours year 2. 3. Language teacher will help subsitute in the room while the Language Nest Apprentices go to Master Apprentice Program with Master Speaker. 4. Create language materials for teacher's lesson plans for 6 classrooms language. 5. Experience Langauge Immersion through Native-Medium/Immersion Exploration Summit Meeting. 6. Conduct formative and summative language assessments of our adult language learners. 7. Host and attend Language Bowl for Community to increase language learning and access to language speakers. 8. Create language materials for family language learning to support language learning in the home.
