The partnership of nine organizations is conducting a study to determine if it is feasible and beneficial for organizations to share resources to meet essential, but not mission-related functions-so-called "back of office" needs.
To provide quality arts and cultural programming to the East Otter Tail County Fair. The fair held a fiddle contest with three major divisions open to different ages and welcomed Heart O’Lakes Harmony Barbershop Choir and Quartet to the stage. The purpose of the arts and cultural events is to create a multicultural and generational awareness of different talents in Minnesota.
To produce a new exhibit on early county healthcare, the Beltrami County Historical Society (BCHS) drew from primary records in local and state repositories and used the funds for the research and development phase of the exhibit. The exhibit follows the path of early healthcare in Beltrami County including traditional healing, the history of North Country Hospital and Lake Julia Sanatorium to dentistry.
A multi-media oral history exhibit was developed to preserve the memories of diverse Twin City immigrant communities and to promote dialog between recent immigrants and native-born citizens. Thirty eight interviews were filmed and photographed.
Having current and accurate data on historic and archaeological sites is important to understanding our past and to preserving Minnesota’s history for future generations. In 2010-2011, the Minnesota Historical Society awarded contracts for these survey projects:
The Children's Discovery Museum's (CDM) new 3,000 piece Wizard of Oz (WOZ) collection will be properly archived, conservation materials purchased, and exhibit concept and design drawings completed. CDM facilitators and educators will travel to other children's museums in Minnesota for staff enrichment and professional development.
-Train 30 students in transcription methods and techniques, conduct transcription projects
-Identify and train 3 language specialists to work with elders in developing and recording audio vocabulary for existing Ojibwemotaadidaa immersion curriculum
-Language fair
-Produce a play script and audio-animated video in Ojibwe based on traditional story
-Publish collection of Ojibwe stories with photographs and an audio CD
To improve the exhibit space for arts, cultural heritage, MN history displays at the St Louis County Fair by improving lighting and purchasing new display easels.
