Sakatah Singing Hills State Trail - Bridges #1-10 between Waterville and Madison Lake
Rehabilitation of State Trails Bridges on the Sakatah - Singing Hills State Trail between Waterville and Madison Lake (LeSueur and Blue Earth Counties).
The section of the Sakatah-Singing Hills State Trail located between the communities of Waterwille in LeSueur County and Madison Lake in Blue Earth County, includes a total of four former railroad bridge structures (Bridges SSH07, SSH08, SSH09 and SSH10, that currently carry the state recreational trail over a series of small streams. The rehabilitation of these structures will be completed in two phases. Phase I of the rehabilitation is to include the completion of detailed inspections of each of the structures and recommendations for the rehabilitation or replacement of each of the four structures. Phase II of the rehabilitation will consist of the rehabilitation of the bridges structures and replacement of the trail surface/ deck and safety railing were recommended or the replacement of the former railroad structure with an appropriate new structure (bridge or culvert). Should rehabilitation of one or all of the four bridges be recommended, it is anticipated that the structural rehabilitation f these structures will be completed during 2012. Should replacement be recommended, the structures would be replaced in association with the anticipated resurfacing of this trail segment in 2013/2014.
