Project Overview
The Schalow parcel lies within a 5,000+ acre complex of protected wildlife lands and contains nearly 4,400 feet of river frontage along the Minnesota River. This parcel abuts Minnesota Valley State Park and is surrounded on all sides by city-owned natural lands. The City of Chaska is partnering with The Conservation Fund (the Fund) to permanently protect this land that will ultimately be owned by the City of Chaska and incorporated into the existing wildlife lands nearby the Minnesota River, which is home to some of the rarest aquatic and river-dependent species in the state. Ensuring this property remains undeveloped is critical for the 14 rare or threatened species found within one mile of this site.
