To remodel an existing commercial building to be established as the Pillager Arts Center. The Pillager Arts Center will be an epicenter for arts education for the community and serve as a space where people can interact with other creative minds.
To update and enhance cultural heritage exhibits at the Cass County Fair. Projects will include brightening display areas, installing speakers, and removing outdated displays to replace with new exhibits of art and cultural artifacts from the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwa and other pieces relating to regional heritage.
In 2002, citizens began to notice severe algal blooms in Cedar Lake, a high value recreational lake with exceptional clarity and fisheries habitat. Clearwater River Watershed District (CRWD) began an intensive monitoring program in 2003 to identify nutrient sources and protect Cedar Lake. Through intensive lake and watershed monitoring, CRWD identified the major source of nutrients to the lake. Three nutrient impaired shallow lakes; Swartout, Albion and Henshaw Lakes, in the upper watershed and impaired wetlands discharge excess amounts of soluble phosphorus.

Partners: Friends of Christ Church Lutheran and Christ Church Lutheran. Christ Church Lutheran, a National Historic Landmark in Minneapolis, is one of Minnesota's greatest Modernist landmarks. The nave, built in 1949, was designed by renowned architect Eliel Saarinen and the education wing, built in 1962, was designed by his son, Eero Saarinen. This project will bring the elevator up to code, ensuring full accessibility of the building so people of all abilities can freely participate in tours, programs and events.
The purpose of the DNR Wildlife Health Program is to monitor wildlife populations for diseases, to provide information to support management decisions based on accurate information, and to minimize negative ecological, recreational, and economic impacts.
The City of Inver Grove Heights will remove PAH contaminated sediment from the 79th Street Pond. Approximately 2,300 cubic yards of sediment will be dredged and disposed of at the Pine Bend Landfill located in the City of Inver Grove Heights.
The City of Waconia will implement its 2012-13 Storm Pond Cleaning Project and 2012 Improvement Project which includes removal and disposal of more than 2,200 cubic yards of PAH contaminated sediment from 3 stormwater ponds. The contaminated sediment will be disposed of in the Waste Management industrial landfill located in Burnsville, MN.
The Villa Park Wetland Restoration Project proposes sediment removal from 6 contiguous stormwater wetland treatment cells within the Villa Park Wetland system resulting in an additional 118lbs/yr of total phosphorus(TP) removal from water entering Lake McCarrons.
Pine Soil and Water Conservation District is partnering with the City of Sturgeon Lake to seal over 50% of the unused wells in the city limits. The City of Sturgeon Lake recently installed a municipal water supply system, and completed a Minnesota Department of Health approved Wellhead Protection Plan. Residents have connected to the new public water supply system and need to seal their unused wells.
This mini-grant supported curriculum development and activities to build a new civics education program for Latino youth. CLUES integrated this civics education curriculum across the existing Youth in Action (YA!) program.

The Minnesota Historical Society developed a communications strategy to raise awareness of the significance of Minnesota's role in the Civil War and also the Society's educational initiatives, exhibits and programs related to the war to ensure that students, teachers and the general public would use and benefit from these initiatives.
The mission of the Minnesota Civil War Commemoration Task Force is to promote and share the rich history of the American Civil War and Minnesota's connection to it. With support from the Legacy Amendment's Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund, the task force is overseeing the development of statewide, balanced activities commemorating the Sesquicentennial of the American Civil War and Minnesota's involvement in it and the U.S.-Dakota War of 1862. Activities are intended to result in a positive legacy, long-term public benefit and education.
To offer hands-on art workshops with local artists. The Clay County Fair will hold hour-long classes with Melissa Kossick and Steve Stark, for both children and adults, on portrait-painting, painting with fingers, pointillism, collage, and local historical drawing. The project is meant to have lasting impact on participants by instilling interest and confidence in order to inspiring them to pursue more art projects on their own.
The goals of the program are to evaluate the effectiveness of agricultural conservation practices, identify underlying processes that affect water quality, and develop technologies to target critical areas of the landscape. Funded projects provide current and accurate scientific data on the environmental impacts of agricultural practices and help to develop or revise agricultural practices that reduce environmental impacts while maintaining farm profitability.
This project represents a one-time opportunity to improve the quality of stormwater runoff from the parking lot and access road at Cleary Lake Regional Park. Cleary Lake is listed as impaired for excessive nutrients and is a focal point for many park activities. Three Rivers Park District and Scott County are partnering to reconstruct the park access road and to mill and overlay or conduct full depth reclamation of the parking lot at the park in 2013. Other partners include the Scott Watershed Management Organization (Scott WMO) and the Scott County Public Works Department.
To offer arts activities that highlight the special attributes of local culture. The Clearwater County Fair will host two workshop sessions of Scandinavian rosemaling, and exhibit the work of two local Native American artists. These two very different cultural events will provide community members the opportunity to learn about cultural differences, similarities, and the rich heritage of the area.
This project targets an older residential area that does not have permanent water quality practices. Storm water presently runs directly to the Mississippi River using out of date and under-sized infrastructure. Expanding upon a very successful pilot program for retro-fitting storm water treatment practices in residential neighborhoods, rain gardens will be strategically placed to maximize water quality benefits for each dollar spent. Each rain garden will have a pre-treatment device to help achieve the cost-effective long-term water quality goals of the City.
Minnesota Trout Unlimited enhanced in-stream and riparian fish and wildlife habitat in and along coldwater streams and lakes located on public lands and Aquatic Management Areas. We originally proposed 11 projects, yet completed 13 projects. Contracting efficiencies and leveraging of other funding allowed us to add three more habitat enhancement projects in northeast Minnesota and to lengthen others. One small budget project was dropped when a partner changed the scope from 144 acres to less than 15 and proposed costs outweighed the potential benefit.
Acquisition of Columbus Lake Conservation Area will protect 258 acres of quality habitat for game and waterfowl hunters, creating a wildlife corridor connecting Lamprey Pass WMA to other protected habitat.
