Initiate phase 2 improvement recommendations from the off-leash dog area master plan consisting of design/development of site infrastructure improvements, initiate construction on phase 2 items at off-leash dog areas in Battle Creek Regional Park, Bald Eagle-Otter Lake regional Park and Rice Creek North Regional Trail.
The overall goal of this process is to compile the information developed by the MPCA into summaries, tables, graphics and tools that the MPCA can use to replace sections of the Stormwater Manual. CDM Smith has developed an approach and workplan that is aimed at complimenting the knowledge of the MPCA and assisting the MPCA through supplemental literature searches, compilation of materials into usable formats, and facilitation of discussions when needed.
Brown's Creek is one of the few remaining cold water fisheries in the Metropolitan Area; however, it is impaired due to high suspended solids and high water temperatures. To understand the extensive and complex in-stream temperature and local climate data already collected by the Brown's Creek Watershed District, this grant will facilitate the development of a thermal model to determine thermal sources and cost-effective management projects and practices to reduce thermal loading to Brown's Creek.
Regional public projects that are the focus of the proposed project include: Infiltration areas and a sedimentation pond enhancement in subwatersheds N3/N4; Parking lot storm drain rain gardens and a sedimentation pond enlargement in subwatersheds N5/N6; An infiltration area and a sedimentation pond enhancement in subwatersheds S9/S11; Ditch checks along Highway 13 in subwatershed 10.
