Project Details

Collaborating artists Talon Cavender-Wilson and Dani Prados will tour an evolving immersive exhibit to eight locations around Greater Minnesota, developing a new piece for each community hosting the work.

Advisory Group Members and Qualifications

Erik Farseth: Farseth is a Minnesota artist specializing in printmaking, zines, and hand cut collage. He currently works as the administrator for the art history department at the University of Minnesota. Farseth has previously served on the volunteer board of directors of the Stevens Square Center for the Arts. Farseth holds a master?s degree in journalism from the University of Iowa (Iowa City, IA), and a BA in art, culture, and politics from St. Olaf College. He is a three-time recipient of an Artist Initiative grant and a one-time recipient of a Minnesota Center for Book Arts? Jerome Book Arts Fellowship.; Kelsey Giles: Giles is a recent graduate student at the University of Minnesota. They graduated with a degree in multicultural college teaching and learning. Giles is currently working as a contract artist and educator in the Twin Cities. Additionally, they are taking professional development courses including St. Thomas University's Community Entrepreneur Program and Mary Lambert's Everybody's a Babe workshop. Before moving to Minnesota, Giles lived in Fort Collins, CO, where they were involved in the community. They spent several years as an activist for social justice and human rights, volunteered with Partners Mentoring Youth, the Growing Project, FoCo Cafe, alternative spring breaks, and fall clean-up.; Denise Hedtke: Hedtke is a teacher in a Minnesota intermediate school district. She is proud to work with at-risk adolescents, their children, and students interested in early childhood careers. Hedtke?s volunteer experiences include the mayor's advisory committee, election committee, her homeowners' association board of directors, CAP Agency programs, and previous participation on the Arts Board.; Ella Jacobson: Jacobson is a cultural critic and writer originally from Alaska. Her writing has appeared in The Drift, The Guardian, and The Los Angeles Review of Books, among other publications. She has received fellowships and grants from the Miami Book Fair and the Elizabeth George Foundation, and residencies from The Mount, Monson Arts, I-Park Foundation, and Good Hart. She holds a master?s degree in cultural reporting and criticism from the Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute at New York University and is a former New York University Abu Dhabi Fellow in writing.; Megan Krueger: Krueger has worked in the fundraising field for arts and basic needs nonprofits for the last 20 years. She has a history of success leading programs and campaigns through donor centric communication, planning, and execution. She holds a bachelor of arts in theater, and now enjoys participating in the arts as an audience member and donor.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Residents of greater Minnesota will experience a touring exhibit that connects their communities and invites discussion about place and forms of art. A public logbook will track audience thoughts and reactions, while consistent artist Q and As with attendees will record live feedback and discussion as the exhibit travels. Survey postcards will collect additional data from participating audiences.
