Funds will assist Arc United to host artists Maureen O’Brian and Terry Honstead to mentor adults with disabilities in creating a mural and individual collage art to be on public display throughout the state.
Funding for the annual Swede Hollow Plein Air Arts Festival, a one-day multidisciplinary outdoor arts festival. The festival will take place in May 2011.
Motionpoems, a formerly all-volunteer startup poetry film initiative, will build capacity to present our 3rd annual screening in October 2011, renamed as THE BEST AMERICAN POETRY FILM FESTIVAL, at Open Book in Minneapolis, and will expand the impact of this annual hybrid film event on Minnesota artists and audiences.
Minnesota Dance Ensemble will create and produce innovative choreographic works for an evening of dance performance at the Paramount Theater in Saint Cloud on March 11th, 2011. "I Want My MTV" will include new and re-envisioned repertory works by MInnesot
To bring a variety of historical programming to the Southwest St Louis County Fair. Programming will include a reenactment of voyager encampment life featuring fur traders, blacksmiths, and other encampment entrepreneurs. The fair will also host a dogsledding demonstration.

To provide children's programming at the Red Lake County Fair. Programming will include games and activities highlighting local history, cultural heritage of the region, and learning and singing songs.
MNHS exhibits are supported by diverse programming that complements exhibit content while extending the rich stories of Minnesota's history. MNHS staff are able to partner with community organizations on innovative programs for visitors of all ages. In FY17, programs included lectures, panel discussions, film screenings, musical performances, readers theater programs in the exhibit gallery, hands-on family activities and other events.
The Pioneer Mine Site, listed in the National Register of Historic Places, was improved with the repair of the existing furnaces in the Miners Dry and Shaft Houses. The furnaces are tied in with a fire suppression system and a security system. Installation of expanded steel across three doors, application of adhesive and boards around Shaft House base and removal of surrounding brush provides added protection from insect, animal and human invasion. Destruction by nature and vandals has been minimized.
To provide exhibits, re-enactments, education displays, workshops and presentations of "Wabasha County in Days By-Gone." Funds will also be used to purchase a sound system to enhance workshops and presentations, enhance the quilt and wall displays in the Open Class Exhibit Building, and bring a youth theater group to perform at the fair.

This is a collaboration between Minnesota Historian Doug Ohman, the Kandiyohi County Historical Society and the Kandiyohi County Fair Board. The project includes installing lighting to highlight photos and displays. The fair hired Theatre of Fools for two Vaudeville shows and a juggling workshop for children as well as the Old West Society of Minnesota for living history and reenactments. All artists/historians are Minnesota-based.

To host a children's show about life on the farm through songs and stories, and offer a presentation about, and create a display area of, antique horse drawn machinery used by farmers from the Le Sueur County area.
The Floodwood Four Rivers Legacy Encampment Park will make its debut at the 2012 Southwest St Louis County Fair. Located on the banks of the Floodwood River, the encampment will consist of several live, interactive demonstrations and displays depicting early trades and activities that took place on the area rivers. Fair visitors will enjoy activities such as birch bark canoe building demonstrations, fur trading reenactments, Native American homestead displays, and early logging equipment displays and demonstrations.
The overall purpose of this initiative is to welcome more American Indians into the University to increase the number of speakers of the Dakota and Ojibwe languages. This will be done by the enrollment of adults in the Dakota and Ojibwe language immersion model classes, as well as, enrolling youth into the youth classes. The University will offer immersion model 100-level courses in Dakota and Ojibwe languages and provide scholarships to ensure accessibility and participation.
Recognizing the importance of reaching K- 12 students, as well as their parents and teachers, much of the Minnesota Historical Society's web site is specifically aimed at these groups. While the existing web site is widely used, it has become unwieldy and difficult for the intended audiences to explore and engage with the Society's plethora of content and services.
To preserve the 1861 school house by reinforcing the foundation, repairing the roof to preserve the artifacts inside the school, and restoring the interior walls and ceilings. During the fair, the Blue Earth County Historical Society will dress in period costumes to entertain and educate fairgoers, and allow visitors to interact with school desks, maps, slate chalkboards, and school books from the era the school was in operation.
To educate fairgoers about the early history of the area. The Le Sueur County Fair will create an exhibit on the Native American and early settlers life in the area. The exhibit will include a large tipi, fire pit, artifacts, tools, hides, and more. Funds will also be used to host demonstrations on native and log cabin construction techniques, and drawing and painting activities for children.
