To increase access to arts, cultural, and MN history programming at the Wilkin County Fair. Programming will include performances by a bluegrass band, dance group, the Red River Theater, and a one room schoolhouse reenactment. Attendees will also be able to read about the history of the fair on signs placed throughout the grounds, and learn about the history and culture of the livestock industry in the Red River Valley by taking a History Walk.
The Children's Museum of Rochester, Inc. will be implementing a program called Passport To Play aiming to increase the number of children and families of all ages, ethnicities, abilities and incomes to participate in hands-on arts and cultural programming and educational exhibits at the museum. Passport To Play would reach over 1,500 children and families a year from underserved communities in Southeastern Minnesota. The Children's Museum of Rochester, Inc.
This season features four performances, beginning in October 2010 and ending in April 2011: Cellist Zuill Bailly, the Vienna Choir Boys, the Harlem Gospel Choir, and gypsy violinist Roby Lakatos with his band of gypsy musicians.
Nordic Arts Alliance presents the Viking world/roots tribal contemporary music band Krauka from Denmark/Iceland in a rural and urban Northern Minnesota tour September 2010 with project components including master classes, school and library workshops, and public performances.
Nordic Arts Alliance in Moorhead, in cooperation with local colleges, is building new relationships with 18-24-year-old underserved audience members to overcome barriers to understanding, appreciation, and participation in contemporary and tribal Nordic arts in Minnesota.
