A pocket guide to historic locations in and near Redwood Falls was created to make people more aware of the historical and cultural significance of the buildings and sites in the area. This is the first collection of historic sites in this form to be made accessible to the public in the region. Copies of the Guide were distributed at City Hall, City Library, the Chamber of Commerce and Redwood County Historical Society.

The city hired a qualified historian to research and prepare materials for a Guide highlighting the historic resources of the city. The goal of the project was to make residents and visitors more aware and more appreciative of the historical and cultural significance of downtown Chaska's buildings. They include a National Register Historic District (Walnut Street), seven buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places and over 50 buildings listed on the Local Register.

To transcribe 30 hours of oral history interviews about the history of the Knut Koupee music store.

To hire a qualified historian to conduct primary source research on the history of the Gumm and Milne families in Minnesota.

The GTHS hired a conractor who: 1. Transcribed 32 recorded oral interviews of residents of the Gunflint Trail. 2. Conducted further interviews (to be recorded and transcribed as well) of many more area residents, some in their 80's and 90's. 3. Digitized all oral histories and transcriptions and entered them into PastPerfect Software.

To document in 10-15 oral history interviews the history of the Guyanese Indian community in Minnesota.

To hire a qualified museum consultant to conduct a general preservation needs assessment survey and long range collections preservation plan.

To hire qualified consultants to evaluate the Hackensack WPA Log Cabin, currently in use as a public library, for possible inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places.

To hire a qualified historian to complete the nomination to the National Register of Historic Places for the 1936 Hackensack Conservation Building.

To document in 8 oral history interviews with Dakota or Ojibwe people their relationship to the area surrounding Haha Wakpada/Bassett Creek in Golden Valley, MN.

The Minnesota Historical Society is developing creative, hands-on learning projects for K-12 students that adhere to state social studies standards and introduce students to important aspects of Minnesota and U.S. history. For example, students will explore the role of slavery in American history by examining historical newspapers, letters and laws and by watching a series of dramatic portrayals of Dred and Harriet Scott who lived at Fort Snelling in the 1830s. These projects will be made accessible to teachers around the state and around the country in 2013.

A hands on "walk through history" exhibit was developed by the Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum that puts the Walnut Grove area in context with the residency of Laura Ingalls Wilder. The permanent exhibit features small town venues that include a general store, a bank, a post office and a telephone booth dating from the 1870's to the 1940's.

To add 124 rolls of microfilmed city newspapers to the historical society's holdings, making primary records more accessible to the public.

To create 14 Harmony-area entries for the MNopedia project for online research.

To develop a new website that enables better public access to Hennepin Medical Center history.

To hire a qualified museum lighting professional to develop a museum lighting plan.

To hire a qualified historian to research the history of Yale University graduates in Minnesota.

To contract with qualified professionals to create multi-module, educational training materials to introduce preservation commissioners, staff and appointed members to historic preservation concepts, terminology and principles.

To document in up to 12 interviews the history of the Rock Island Swing Bridge in preparation for an interpretive plan.

To contract with qualified professionals to prepare construction documents for the preservation of Delano Village Hall, listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Preventative conservation products were used by the HCHS to preserve a part of their collection using limited funds.

UV filter sleeves and acid-free barrier boards were installed to mitigate deterioration of artifacts in the Heritage Room of the Hubbard County Historical Museum due to lighting, moisture and dust.

To hire a qualified architect to conduct a condition assessment of the Hermann Monument, listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
