We are hoping to continue to promote Minnesota art by bringing items back from prior years, but also improve our arts section for our fair. We would like to bring back our Birch Coulee Working Ranch Rodeo that shows our patrons the older styles of a working ranch such as cattle sorting, roping, and doctoring cattle. This also allows local participants to attend and try the different events it offers. Another popular activity we had was bringing a local blacksmith into our fair to show fairgoers the ways they created different tools in our past.
The SWCD Local Capacity Services grant program provides funds to Soil and Water Conservation Districts that focuses on increasing capacity to address four resource concern areas - Soil Erosion, Riparian Zone Management, Water Storage and Treatment, and Excess Nutrients.
1. Offer as many children as possible the chance to be immersed in the Dakota Language. This includes prioritizing children of Dakota heritage, children with Dakota language connections, and children with other tribal affiliations. Ensure families feels safe, welcome, and included in the language learning process and in the shaping of future programming. 2. Build a network of Dakota Language educators through collaborative teaching, including language experts, elders, and early childhood teachers. 3.
This project includes new exhibit components and enhancements; facilitating diverse workshops and performances for children and families, and four mini camps for children ages 6-12 during school/summer breaks.
Staffing, programming, supplies and contracted services to operate a Park Ambassador Program within the Hyland-Bush-Anderson Lakes Regional Park that would focus on increasing usage by minorities and other underrepresented populations by conducting community outreach, meet and greet park users, education of regulations, address reservation/maintenance concerns and creating programs of interest to underserved segments of the public developed based upon surveys, engagement and outreach.
