This exhibit about the iconic Minneapolis club, First Avenue, will explore the 1980s when the club was at its peak as a trailblazing venue that put Minnesota music on the map. For four decades, the First Avenue has been a launching pad for local talent like Prince, The Replacements and Husker Du and a place national touring acts loved to play. It booked African American rock, soul and hip-hop artists unable to get gigs at other downtown venues, and it fostered a growing punk, hardcore and indie rock scene.
The large lakes of the world hold more than two-thirds of the freshwater on the planet. They are home to diverse populations of people, plants and wildlife. There are 253 large lakes around the world designated as being a large lake, or lake of more than 500 km2 (193 mi2) in size. These bodies of water will become an increasing important part of the conversation in coming years. Global water resources are limited. Access to safe drinking water and aquatic food sources is already a concern for millions of people.
The award-winning History Live program served more than 5,500 Minnesota students in FY12 while creating new history lessons to deliver via video conferencing technology. New programs focus on Dred and Harriet Scott, Dakota history and Jeffers Petroglyphs. History Live staff are also developing a way to deliver content to seniors living in residential facilities and will continue building a state and nationwide audience for these unique, high-energy history programs.

In a book arts and poetry project titled Roots, students will explore their cultural heritage and ancestry by writing prose and poetry, collecting photographs and other visuals components to be assembled into an artist's book and expanded on with a master poetry/bookmaking class the following year.
The ScrapMobile, a portable art car (van) and art program of ArtStart's ArtScraps Materials Reuse Center, seeks funding to provide free summer arts programming instructed by ArtStart roster artists in parks, housing developments, and recreation centers for underserved youth/families in collaboration with Saint Paul Park and Recreation's Roving Rec program and the St Paul Public Library Bookmobile.
The Loft will extend its reach to writers–and those in the making— who lack access to its Twin Cities-based creative writing education services by creating online learning opportunities and a vital online literary learning community.
The Loft will deepen its relationships with and investigate and remove barriers to participation in Loft programs for writers and literary readers and those in the makings who are recent immigrants, people living with disabilities, and teens.
The Lakeville Area Arts Festival (LAAF) is proud to host approximately 60 exhibitors September 18-19, 2010, in a small but premium art festival located in downtown Lakeville, MN. It is the intention to maintain a quality event for viewing and purchasing exceptional artwork, encouraging communication with artists, and learning about the creative process. LAAF promotes artistry in many forms and mediums to include visual, performing, and literary artisans.
Four Community Centers (Brian Coyle Center, Waite House, Oak Park, and Pillsbury House) will establish long-term program partnerships with Minnesota artists and arts organizations to provide diverse multi-disciplinary art programs for over 120 Minneapolis youth. Funds will provide transportation, tickets, supplies, and artist stipends.
