An entrance ramp was constructed and five doorways were widened to improve the accessibility of the historic Scwyzer Lodge. The ramp was consructed with green treated lumber and measures 36 feet long by 4 feet wide. Crushed limestone was put down on the trail leading from the parking lot to the foot of the ramp.
One exterior and four interior doors were widened to 36 inches. All trim and jams were stained to match the original woodwork as closely as possible.
To provide full ADA-compliant access to the Scriver Block, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, with an elevator and grade access entrance.
A preliminary National Register assessment of Wayzata's Section Foreman House was prepared for the Wayzata Historical Society by a qualified historic preservation consultant. The final report included a description of the house, the context of its relationship to the Great Northern Railway and the city of Wayzata, the role of a section foreman and standard designs for section houses. The report was submitted to the MN State Historic Preservation Office for review. It was recommended that restoration commence before a National Register Nomination is completed.
In 1984-87, MN became and remains one of just six states with mandated cross agency services for infants/toddlers with disabilities beginning at birth.
American Indian ceremonies were held at Historic Fort Snelling in November 2015, marking the 150th anniversary of the execution of Sakpedan (Shakopee) and Wakanozhanzhan (Medicine Bottle) at Fort Snelling. They were convicted by a military commission for their participation in the U.S.-Dakota War of 1862. MNHS provided a community meal for the Dakota community immediately following the ceremonies.
To contract with qualified professionals to prepare planning documents that will help preserve the Shaw Memorial Library, listed in the National Register of Historic Places, and used by Carlton County Historical Society.
To produce a one-hour documentary on the life and significant contributions of Minnesota Supreme Court Associate Justice Rosalie Wahl based on thorough and completed research.
SHAHS acquired shelving and conservation materials to re-organize, consolidate and store collections, especially artifacts documenting the Sacred Heart High School, using proper historical conservation methods. Improved care and management will extend the life of the resources stored in the archival library. Better organization makes the collections more useable to patrons and staff.
The Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County used the funds to purchase 1223 linear feet of V-GRIP™ baked enamel on steel shelving to store their growing collection of archival materials. This project will have lasting implications for the professional care of the historical record of Clay County for many years to come.
