$5,982,000 the first year and $7,000,000 the second year are for statewide historic and cultural grants to local, county, regional, or other historical or cultural organizations or for activities to preserve significant historic and cultural resources. Money must be distributed through a competitive grant process. The Minnesota Historical Society must administer the money using established grant mechanisms, with assistance from the advisory committee created under Laws 2009, chapter 172, article 4, section 2, subdivision 4, paragraph (b), item (ii).

The expected impacts of this grant have all been achieved. Short term impact: The locations of all objects in the museum's basement storage area were accurately recorded in the collections management database. There is now an accurate number of "missing" items that can be compared with those listed on the collections management database. Intermediate Term: A process for maintaining the improved records has been developed with a written plan for an annual inventory sampling of the collection by the SCHS curator. Long Term: The information experience gained through this project will enable the Museum to identify funding sources and plan for future work such as inventorying and digitizing the SCHS archives and historic photograph collection.
