Project Overview

MPR Events offer opportunities to deepen the audience relationship with the artists heard on our airwaves and online through our music services, YourClassical MPR and The Current. We will partner with our colleagues at these two services to provide 1-2 free events per year over FY24 and FY25, as well as supporting the hiring of MN artists for events both in the Twin Cities and in Greater MN.

As a statewide network, among our Events priorities will be to expand our focus into Greater Minnesota. This means providing opportunities for Greater Minnesota artists within our existing Legacy events to support their career growth. Conversely, we would love to support events in Greater Minnesota in creating opportunities for artist appearances and performances within our regional networks where free, live programming may not be as prevalent. We hope to strengthen our relationships with Minnesotans across the state through this work that will create a foundation for ongoing work in those areas. Other priorities over the coming two years is to expand the reach of programs and make it easier for Minnesotans across the state to participate will include adding a virtual component when possible and/or recording content for broadcast.

MPR Events' commitment includes actively searching for diverse or underfunded artists and outreach to diverse audiences to bring our music to as wide an audience base as possible, including, and at times even prioritizing underserved areas, artists, and audiences. To help facilitate this, MPR Events will actively look for like-minded collaborations with other arts and culture organizations to enrich the experience of our artists and audiences.
