Eric Bergeson, the Country Scribe, is an author, businessman, and motivational speaker. He presented his “Anyone Can Be a Writer” program to 3 area school English classes, and spoke about his new book “Pirates on the Prairie” to three branch libraries while also entertaining with songs on the piano – inviting the audience to join in.

1. Attitudes – People had a feeling of nostalgia regarding growing up in a small town. 2. Skills – The audience becomes a part of the program, learning with each other and from each other. 3. Knowledge – Audiences learned about the challenges faced in small towns such as those they live in; that the “good ‘ol days” weren’t always so good. Comments from participants in the program included: "I’d travel anywhere to see this gentleman!" " The author explains his book in depth – the stories behind the story."
Northwest Regional Library and partners: English students at Lafayette High School, Kittson County High School, and Warroad High School. Partner Organization Contribution/Role in Programs: Mrs. Matzke, English teacher at the Red Lake Falls School coordinated her class time to accommodate a 45-minute presentation for an advanced English Class. Mrs. Filpula-Didrickson, English teacher at the Warroad School coordinated her multiple Advanced English class schedules to allow students to attend an afternoon presentation. Ms Gatheridge, librarian at the Kittson County School coordinated with teachers to arrange a one-on-one interaction style presentation - 15 students attending.
