Project Overview
Bemidji Public Library organized a week long celebration of books and writing from 9 through 13 August 2010. In addition to feature author readings, held in venues throughout the city’s downtown, an author fair was held. The feature authors were: Jim Northrup, Marion Bauer, Brian Duren, Jane Freeman, Winona LaDuke, Alison Mcghee,Carol Russell, Will Weaver, Elaine Fleming, Larry Schug, Beth Solheim and Susan Hauser.
Project Details
Partner Organization(s): A citizen’s committee that included representation from the Headwaters School of Music, the native American community, and a local writers group worked with KRLS’s book festival coordinator. The Cabin Café, City of Bemidji, and Headwaters School provided free venues - Partners provided free venues and shared mailing lists

Measurable Outcome(s)
While satisfaction ratings varied by author, the response to the readings was very positive. Many of the authors were familiar to the audience, but others were not and the respondents were appreciative of their insights in writing and publishing.
